What we collect

Washing machine, cooker and appliance collection

We collect washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, cookers, ovens and hobs. Ground-floor collections are free. We do not collect fridges or freezers.

Which appliances we take

Washing machines, washer-dryers, tumble dryers, dishwashers, free-standing cookers, built-in ovens, hobs, microwaves and extractor hoods. They can be broken, old or simply replaced. You do not need to empty the drum of any remaining water, but please make sure the appliance is disconnected from the mains and, for gas cookers, capped off by a Gas Safe engineer.

We do not collect fridges, freezers or fridge-freezers. They contain refrigerant gases that must be handled under separate rules, and your council's bulky uplift service or the retailer delivering your new one is the right route for those.

Ground floor free, upstairs may be charged

A washing machine weighs around 70 kilograms and a cooker is not far behind. From the ground floor, a driveway or a close they are collected free. When one has to be carried down tenement stairs we may apply a small labour charge per floor. We tell you this before you book so there is never a surprise on the day.

Landlords and letting agents

Appliance swaps between tenancies are one of the most common calls we get from landlords. If you have several properties, or an appliance plus other metal from a refurbishment, tell us and we will plan one visit rather than several.

Questions about this

Do you take microwaves and small appliances?

Yes. Microwaves, extractor hoods, heaters, hoovers and other small appliances are collected along with other metal. A single microwave on its own is not worth a van trip, so tell us if you have other items too.

Will you take my fridge?

No. Fridges and freezers need specialist handling for the refrigerant. Your council bulky uplift or the retailer delivering your new appliance can take them.

Do I need to disconnect the appliance?

Yes. Unplug electric appliances and turn off the water to a washing machine or dishwasher. Gas cookers must be disconnected and capped by a Gas Safe registered engineer before we arrive.

What does it cost from the second floor?

Heavy appliances carried down from upper floors may carry a small labour charge per floor. We confirm the amount when you book, before anything is agreed.
