What we collect in the centre

City centre jobs are mostly commercial. Office refits produce aluminium ceiling grid, trunking, cable and steel partition frames; the aluminium pictured on this site came from an office strip-out near Charing Cross. Pubs and restaurants replace kitchen extraction and catering equipment; the galvanised ductwork on our recent collections page was lifted from the pavement outside a city centre pub. Flats above shops and in converted warehouses produce the usual radiators, boilers and appliances.

Access, loading and timing

Loading is the hard part in the centre. Many streets have loading bays with time limits, bus lanes with camera enforcement, pedestrian zones on Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street, and rear lanes that are the only practical access. Tell us the exact street and whether there is a lane, a loading bay or a yard, and whether the building has a goods lift. We will suggest a time that fits the restrictions rather than leave you to work it out.

Early morning before deliveries start, or after the evening rush, is often easiest for premises on the main pedestrian streets.

The residential edges of the centre are traditional tenements: controlled entry, no lift, and radiators or washing machines three floors up. That is normal for us. Tell us the floor and we will carry it down.
