Household scrap metal collection

We collect unwanted metal from homes and flats across Glasgow and the surrounding towns. Standard scrap metal collection is free, and we do all the lifting.

What a household collection usually looks like

A washing machine that has died. The radiators and boiler an engineer left in the garden. A bed frame, two bikes and a rusty gate that have been in the shed for years. A cast iron bath after a bathroom refit. None of it fits in the car, the council bulky uplift will not take all of it, and the recycling centre means a queue. That is the job we do.

You call or text, tell us what you have and where it is, and we come and lift it. Standard collection is free.

Free, and where a charge might apply

Everything on the ground floor, outside, or in a close is free. Radiators, boilers, bikes and lighter items are free from any floor where access is safe. The one exception is heavy appliances, such as washing machines, dishwashers and cookers, being carried down from upper floors, where a small labour charge may apply. We tell you before we book, never on the doorstep.

Tenements and flats

Most of Glasgow lives up a close. We are used to controlled entries, winding stairs, back courts and parking restrictions. Tell us the floor, whether the stair is straight or spiral, and whether there is a back lane, and we will plan accordingly. If you are not going to be in, metal left in a locked back court or beside the bins can often be collected without you.

Landlords and clearances

Between-tenancy clearances often produce a mix of appliances, bed frames, furniture with metal frames and the odd radiator. We take the metal; we are not a house clearance company and will not remove sofas, carpets or general rubbish. If you have several properties, tell us and we will group visits.

Questions about this

Do I need to be home?

Not if the metal is somewhere we can reach safely and you have told us exactly what to take. For items inside the property someone needs to let us in.

Can you take other rubbish while you are there?

No. We collect metal, and everything we collect goes to a metal recycling facility. Sofas, wood and general waste need a different service.

How soon can you come?

It depends where the van is. Send your postcode and a photo and we will give you an honest time; same-day or next-day is often possible.
