Who controls your information

What we collect

When you request a collection through our form, call us or text us, we may receive:

• your name;
• your mobile number;
• your email address, only if you choose to give it, so we can send you a copy of your request;
• the postcode where the metal is;
• a description of what you want collected and any notes you add, such as access or timing;
• any photographs you choose to send, which may show your property;
• your phone number and message content if you call or text us.

Giving an email address is optional. We do not ask for your date of birth, payment details or any special category information. Please do not include other people in photographs without their agreement.

Why we collect it and how we use it

• to reply to you and arrange the collection you asked for;
• to plan the van route and know what equipment and how many people a job needs;
• to keep a record of what was collected and from where, which helps keep stolen metal out of the recycling chain;
• to deal with any query or complaint about a collection.

We do not use your information for marketing and we do not sell it.

Our lawful basis

We rely on two lawful bases under UK GDPR Article 6. When you ask us to collect metal, we process your details to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)). We keep a record of what was collected and from where under our legitimate interests in running the collection service safely and in keeping stolen metal out of the recycling chain (Article 6(1)(f)). We do not rely on consent for any of this, so there is nothing to withdraw; you can object to the legitimate-interests processing using the contact details above.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with the services we need to run the website and receive your request:

• Website hosting: Vercel (website hosting and cookieless web analytics).
• Form delivery (the service that sends us your request): Resend (email delivery, servers in the EU/US under standard contractual clauses).
• Photo storage (where uploaded photographs are held): Vercel Blob storage, deleted automatically 30 days after upload.

We may also have to share information with the police or a regulator if the law requires it, for example in connection with metal theft enquiries. We do not share your information with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Cookies and analytics

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and a small number of actions (such as tapping the phone number or sending the form) without cookies and without identifying you. No advertising or marketing cookies are used. Because the analytics set no cookies and hold no personal identifiers, no consent banner is required; if that ever changes we will update this notice and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is wrong;
• ask us to delete your information, where we do not have to keep it;
• object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
• ask us to give you your information in a usable format.
